Chapter 12: Triple Play – A study in triad inversions

Description:

In this final chapter, Richard teaches you a very useful chord-playing technique called voice-leading, which involves changing from one chord to another as smoothly as possible, with minimal movement. Using the cycle of fifths, Richard demonstrates how to play major or minor triads through all 12 keys using overlapping common tones, with each chord shape sharing one note from the previous chord. Each pattern begins in first position and gradually moves up the fretboard along the same group of string to 12th position, where you eventually return to the first chord shape, played 12 frets and one octave higher.
